1. Organization of work of the neurological department is provided by directive and methodological documents of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Department of Health of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, methodological recommendations of the Research Institute of Neurology and Psychiatry, orders and instructions of the chief physician and his deputy, decisions of the hospital council.
2. The work of the department is organized by the head of the department, a senior nurse, as well as a neurologist, who replaces the head and is approved by the chief physician in the reserve of the department management.
3. Carrying out the necessary diagnostic procedures following the existing Protocols.
4. Application of effective methods of restorative (rehabilitation) treatment of patients.
5. Referral to intensive care units of patients, the course of the disease which leads to a violation of vital functions of the body.
6. Conducting round-the-clock supervision and treatment of patients.
7. Solving organizational issues regarding the timely transfer of non-core patients to departments according to the profile of the disease, and in case of the patient's condition, providing medical care beyond the authority of the department to a tertiary health care institution.
8. Implementation in the work of departments of proven effective rehabilitation methods of diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases.
9. Maintaining the accounting and reporting documentation approved following the procedure established by law, conducting continuous monitoring of the quality of medical care, and reporting in the approved form.
10. Providing consultative assistance.
11. Conducting training of neurologists of the department according to individual plans.
