Acute stress disorder is a dangerous consequence of psychotrauma

A person who has survived the traumatic event can be strongly immersed in his thoughts, feelings, pain and fears.
This condition may experience a sense of loneliness, isolation from others, it may seem that those who have not survived the same can be understood and helping.
From the moment when the traumatic situation happened, the counting begins:
▪️ from the first few hours to three days - a person can have an acute reaction to stress, namely: anxiety, insomnia, fear, etc.
▪️ from three days to three months after a traumatic event - a person can have an acute stressful disorder, namely: bright, emotionally saturated, anxious or terrifying dreams, memories, flashbecks, insomnia or even partial memory loss.
Acute stress disorder (GSR) has a destructive effect on our body and psyche.
Signs of acute stress disorder:
▪️ involuntary and obsessive memories of a traumatic event,
▪️ anxious dreams or night horrors whose content is associated with a traumatic event,
▪️ Flashbeks - vivid memories of the postponed events during which a person feels and acts as if a traumatic event is happening right now,
▪️ Avoid classes, places, thoughts, feelings or conversations related to an event,
▪️ Loss of interest in habitual activity,
▪️ Feeling of detachment from others,
▪️ Excessive excitement - insomnia, irritability, difficulty concentration, excessive alertness,
▪️ Inability to feel positive emotions,
▪️ Feeling that the surrounding world seems to be unreal or distant, devoid of the usual colors,
▪️ Temporary memory disorders can occur.
In this condition, it is difficult for a person to return to the usual life and fulfill their responsibilities. The greatest risk is that prolonged acute stressful state contributes to the development of post -traumatic stress disorder, which can manifest even many years after psychotrauma.
In case of symptoms of acute stress disorder, we recommend that you seek the advice of mental health professionals: psychologist, psychotherapist.
